World Ship Owners Adopt Kalu as President

 World Shipowners’ Association (WSA) has appointed Nigeria-born Forbes billionaire and President of Slok Group, Orji Uzor Kalu as interim president of the body.

 
Kalu, an eminent businessman and former governor of Abia State will occupy the position pending the election of substantive officials at the proposed Marine Conference scheduled for Greece in Q3 2017
 
The maritime industry globally is set to meet its full potential following the unveiling of an umbrella body for all national, regional and international associations of ship owners called WSA, says a press release signed by WSA’s interim Director of Strategy and Communications, Isaac Marshall.
 
The association which was established in furtherance to the adoption of the agreement of the international maritime round table (IMRT) held in Washington DC, USA, on Monday, October 2, 2015, had in attendance mainly owners of container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, fishing vessels, barges, specialised ships and ferries from 29 countries, including the United States of America, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Russia, Nigeria, Denmark, Norway and others.
 
Marshall said the team would be coordinating the activities of the global shipping body from Abuja, Nigeria.
