Miros AS, a Norwegian leading global producer of oceanographic remote sensing equipment and advanced Met Ocean systems, acquired Aberdeen based Muir Matheson Ltd. on November 1, 2012 to strengthen the company’s presence in the oil and gas Market. Muir Matheson has supplied meteorological and oceanographic monitoring systems to the oil and gas and aviation industries for more than 30 years.

A change in leadership of Muir Matheson has now taken place to enhance the integration process with Miros. David McMillan has replaced the former Managing Director, Andrew Stead, after a short interim period where the position was held by Sturla Maehre from Miros. Mr. Maehre has now taken the position as Chairman of the Board of Muir Matheson.

“David McMillan has long experience in the oil and gas industry, and I am confident that he will be an important part of the integration process between the companies and provide access to new market and business areas,” Mr. Maehre said. “The ownership association of two such long established and reputable businesses in this specialist area is a compelling proposition and provides the opportunity for wider marketing of the combined competencies of the group. As an example, we see broad potential for our Oil Spill Detection system, already installed on over 130 vessels and offshore installations.”
