Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and Korean Register (KR). Speaking on behalf of Electro-Motive Diesel, Mr. Brian Grinter commented that, “Being certified by CCS is an important step in reintroducing the EMD two cycle medium speed diesel engines into the worldwide marine and drilling markets. With recorded setting sales over the past three years, a whole new generation of designers and operators are discovering the advantages of two cycle engines for responsiveness, durability and ease of maintenance.”

In addition to the classification societies, EMD two-cycle engines are US EPA Tier II emissions certified and have recently received IMO Annex VI Tier II certification which is required for engines delivered after January 1, 2011.
