SeaArk Marine, Inc. has delivered a 42-ft Dauntless Class Vessel to Cumberland Island National Seashore in St. Mary’s, Georgia.  The vessel, Loggerhead, is tasked with transporting park rangers, personnel, and light equipment from St. Mary’s to Cumberland Island and jurisdictional waters within the Park Service.

The SeaArk 42-ft Dauntless is constructed of all-welded marine grade aluminum.  The state of the art design incorporates a two-man pilothouse and a 20-passenger aft crew cabin.  All interior spaces are climate controlled for crew and passenger comfort.

Vessel enhancements include a fully integrated Furuno NavNet system and an ICOM communication system.  An aft control station and a 500 pound capacity lifting davit are located on the weather deck.

The main propulsion engines are twin Caterpillar C-9 diesels, each rated @ 510 hp with Twin Disc gears.  For onboard electrical service, a 8.0 Kw Northern Lights generator and 50 amp shore power are provided.   Fully operational, the boat achieves a service speed of 30 knots and a maximum speed of 33 knots.

The Loggerhead will be replacing the current service vessel General Greene, also built by SeaArk Marine.  With its increased speed and carrying capacity, the new vessel will improve transit times and offer a higher degree of safety and comfort for the crew and passengers, as well as enhance the Parks’ service capabilities.
