Two Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division employees were recognized recently at the CIO Leadership Event.

Deborah Morewitz and Karen Ryan both received the annual 'Ones to Watch' Award that identifies rising stars in information technology (IT).

The awards, sponsored by CIO magazine and the CIO Executive Council, recognize IT professionals who have demonstrated leadership, driven innovation and delivered value to their business.

"Deborah and Karen have demonstrated exemplary leadership and technical abilities in their roles in IT," said Leni Kaufman, NNS' vice president and CIO. "They have earned this recognition through their hard work and dedication to enabling systems and processes in support of shipbuilding. We appreciate their efforts and for being great role models and mentors across the organization."

Morewitz and Ryan were honored at the ninth annual 'Ones to Watch and Hall of Fame Gala Dinner' on May 7, 2013 in Boca Raton, Fla. Morewitz is the director of information systems technology at NNS, and Ryan is the manager of application administration.
