The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children launches its second call for proposals intended for associations involved in the service of underprivileged children in the PACA region and in Lebanon.

Founded in 2005 and chaired by Naïla Saadé, the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children aims to support underprivileged children and advocates actions of associations working for ill children, from underprivileged backgrounds or with disabilities. For the second time since its creation, the Foundation launches a call for proposals with the theme for 2014: Improving the quality of life for ill children and children victims of trauma.

Confident that the emotional and social environment is a key element in the recovery of ill children and children victims of trauma, the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children has chosen to support in 2014 projects aimed at improving the daily lives of these particularly vulnerable children. Projects submitted must be aimed at improving life conditions, the well-being and personal fulfillment of these children, and focus on actions in the educational, cultural, sporting, relational, social or medical fields.

This call for proposals only considers projects from non-profit organizations for actions related to this theme, for the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region in France, and Lebanon. Application must be filled online on the Foundation website between April 22 and July 4 2014. The files are then transmitted for consideration to the Board of Directors of the Foundation. The Foundation will support projects with concrete actions responding to uncovered needs, with an innovative aspect or promoting social integration.

The amount of the financial aid, between 5,000 and 25,000 Euros, for a total budget of 100,000 Euros, is determined by the Foundation based on the needs, the scope of each project, the estimated budget and the number of selected applications. Financial support should involve investment and equipment charges or charges related to the implementation of specific projects. All projects must be fully completed by the end of 2015.

Eight projects for disabled children rewarded by the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation in 2013

Particularly conscious of the importance of integration and self-development in children with disabilities, the Foundation had chosen to focus in 2013 on the personal development of these children. Among the 40 applications, eight associations corresponding to the theme were selected in France and in Lebanon to finance the following projects:

In Lebanon
Equipment of a sensory stimulation room "snoezelen" for children with autism for the association Friends of the Disabled, which welcomes children with developmental and mental disabilities and aims to improve their autonomy as well as promote their social integration (Mechref, Chouf).

Equipment of a game room suitable for children with mental disabilities for the association Rayon d’espoir, whose mission is to foster autonomy and social integration of persons with disabilities. This structure provides services through its medical and educational institute and through an Establishment for the Service and Assistance for Labor to children with medical, educational, physical and mental disabilities (Zahle, Bekaa).

Development of a covered school courtyard for children with intellectual disabilities for Foyer de la Providence, which has a school specialized for children with intellectual, educational or behavioral disabilities. (Saida, South Lebanon).

In France (Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region)
Acquisition of a utility vehicle to facilitate logistics for circus workshops for the Zim Zam association, which promotes since 2005 circus for all and especially for disabled people or people with mental illness. (Marseille, PACA region).

Acquirement of sports equipment and a dojo for the future sports facility of the Institut Saint-Ange of the Association Fouque, who welcomes children with multiple disabilities and wishes to offer them the opportunity to practice a sport (Avignon). Development of an educational kitchen suitable for children with multiple disabilities and autism of the Institut Médico-Éducatif Les Figuiers (association La Chrysalide) supplementing 30 children and teenagers with disorders of the development, as well as 16 children and teenagers with multiple disabilities (Marseille).

Acquirement of an interactive and tactile tablet designed to facilitate learning in children and adolescents with multiple disabilities of the Association Régionale pour l’Intégration (ARI), which aims to promote and facilitate the social, educational, cultural and occupational integration of persons with disabilities (Marseille).

Creation of a hydrotherapy center for children with multiple disabilities and autism for Pôle Ressource Petite Enfance de l’association La Bourguette, an institution whose mission of early action (daycare, kindergarten) is directed to children with severe disabilities (Avignon).

CMA CGM said all of these actions will be carried by the end of 2014.
