SGS Acquires Sea Sub Systems

February 23, 2016

Subsea Global Solutions (SGS) has acquired the assets and personnel of Sea Sub Systems, an underwater vessel repair services company based in Tampa, Fla.

The Tampa office, including all staff and equipment, will be rebranded Subsea Global Solutions and will provide the company with an expanded presence in the region.

“Sea Sub Systems has been SGS’s partner for many years on the West coast of Florida. This acquisition provides us a local resource of experienced, skilled people whom we’ve been training and developing for decades,” said Paul Peters, Chief Executive Officer at SGS.  “Tampa is a strategic location for us, with access to Gulf ports as well as a proximity to Port Canaveral. Bringing Sea Sub into our family will allow us to provide faster, more cost-effective service to our customers on both coasts of Florida.”

The new office will strengthen SGS’s footprint with the cruise ship industry as well as with commercial shippers, allowing fast response for emergency services, underwater maintenance, environmental compliance and fuel-efficiency programs. The Tampa team will also be available for surveys and routine inspections.

Earlier this year, SGS opened a new office in Texas to address growing demand for services in the U.S. Gulf Coast oil, gas and commercial shipping industries. The company offers the industry’s most sophisticated processes and repair techniques, many of which are unique to SGS.

The company offers the industry’s most sophisticated processes and repair techniques, many of which are unique to SGS. SGS continues to expand its service portfolio in port areas throughout the world. For instance, SGS’s innovation in underwater tunnel thruster maintenance and repair services allows SGS to perform these operations in the water – an activity once only reserved for the dry dock.  As SGS expands its service portfolio globally, these activities become very cost effective: SGS can use wholly owned assets and personnel to execute the work with little to no mobilization of personnel and gear.
