Prince Rupert to Build $16 Mln Maintenance/Warehouse Complex

August 29, 2016

The Port of Prince Rupert said it will invest $16 million in a new maintenance and warehouse complex, with construction scheduled to begin in two weeks. The facility will be located at the intersection of Scott Road and Highway 16.

Expansion of Fairview Container Terminal created a need to relocate the port’s maintenance building, as DP World acquired the port’s current facility as part of the terminal expansion.

The new complex will be comprised of two buildings: the first housing the maintenance facility, and the second providing storage and warehouse space. The contract for the design and construction of the facility has been awarded to Coast Tsimshian Northern Contractors Alliance (CTNCA) in partnership with IDL Projects. Site clearing is scheduled to commence the week of September 6, 2016.

The project is scheduled to be complete in September, 2017.
