Nordic Tankers Marine Chooses Transas Marine Course

May 20, 2011

Nordic Tankers Marine (Denmark) has chosen Transas Marine solutions for the ECDIS Training of its officers.

Transas Marine has supplied 35 sets of Transas ECDIS Computer Based Training to Nordic Tankers Marine.

Mr. Hanus Mikkelsen, Director Marine HR, Nordic Tankers Marine says: 'Training is a key element in transition to ECDIS. All our officers attend 5-days ECDIS generic training course ashore and now ECDIC CBT from Transas will be a perfect supplement to enhance the users' knowledge and fulfill familiarization on Type Specific equipment required by PSC and ISM Code and, in the nearest future, also by some Flag States. We trust in Transas Marine solutions as they have highly qualified trainers, comprehensive training materials; and the courses are available in different locations around the world'.

Transas ECDIS CBT is based on IMO Model Course 1.27 considering the requirements for ECDIS training in accordance with the Manila Amendments of STCW. The combination of theoretical and practice parts enables trainees to gain necessary knowledge about the system they operate. A trainee receives a certificate proving the successful completion of the CBT.

Nordic Tankers Marine has also participated in Transas 'Train-the-trainer' course held by Capt. Peter Möller in Mumbai, India, during which 8 trainers received Instructor certificates.
