'Get to High Ground' Tsunami Warning Contract

January 8, 2013

LRAD Corporation. provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHD's) wins Tsunami warning contract from an Asian city port.

The company has received a US$369,000 LRAD 360X order for an earthquake and tsunami warning mass notification installation in an Asian port city. The order resulted from an earlier successful trial installation.

The LRAD 360X is the newest system in the Company's proprietary Long Range Acoustic Device® (LRAD®) product line.  The LRAD 360X broadcasts powerful emergency/warning sirens and highly intelligible multi-language voice messages in a 360° pattern over distances up to 2 miles. The LRAD 360X is modular enabling customization of the broadcast area and mass notification footprint.

"Legacy warning systems are incapable of providing highly intelligible, life saving instructions and directions to the local populace," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "When every second counts, the powerful, omnidirectional siren and multi-language voice broadcasts from LRAD 360X systems ensure that emergency communications are heard and understood over large areas, even inside cars and buildings."

"Working with our Asian business partners, we anticipate this will be the first of many installations in this region," added Brown. "Beyond Asia, we're pursuing LRAD 360X emergency warning/mass notification business opportunities with cities, regional districts, ports, school and business campuses, and military bases."
