Container Crane Maker Liebherr Gets DP World Melbourne Order

Ireland-based Liebherr to supply a ship-to-shore container crane to handle 'Post-Panamax' ships at DP World Melbourne.

The crane has a waterside outreach of 50m a span of 25.3m and a landside backreach of 20m. The S.W.L. of the crane is 65 tonnes under twin lift spreader with a lift height of 38m under spreader. 

Hoist speeds are 70-180m/min, trolley speed is 240m/min and crane travel speed is 50 m/min. Crane drives are Liebherr A.C.

This purchase of a Liebherr STS Crane by DP World Melbourne is the latest in a series of investments in terminal infrastructure and the latest technology to facilitate container growth and an expansion of capacity.

Speaking about the award of the contract Liebherr Container Cranes Managing Director, Pat O’Leary commented

“Liebherr are delighted with this order, which marks the return of Liebherr Container Cranes to Australia, after an absence of over 35 years.
