New Artifacts Revealed at Mystic Seaport

Mystic Seaport will unlock its vaults to examine artifacts not usually exhibited for the general public in “Maritime Surprises from the Museum’s Collections,” a new series held at the Museum’s Collections Research Center beginning Friday, January 8, from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

The series continues Friday evenings February 12, March 12 and April 9. Attendees will be able to view significant items in the Museum’s collections that relate to the nation’s maritime heritage. A cash bar and light snacks will be available. Curatorial staff will give the following presentations and answer any questions:
•    January 8 – “Photographic Treasures from the Mystic Seaport Photo Collection”
•    February 12 – “Fishing in the Footsteps of Dr. Charles K. Stillman: A Look into One of Our Founder's Favorite Hobbies”
•    March 12 – “A Return to the Cabinet of Curiosities: A Behind the Scenes Tour”
•    April 9 – “Gideon Denison, Southern Land Deals and the Slave Trade”

Tickets are $12 per program (members: $10) and can be purchased online (www.mysticseaport.org/tickets) or by calling 860.572.5322. Free parking will be available adjacent to the Collections Research Center in the Museum’s north parking lot.
