The American Association of Port Authoritiesred (AAPA) informs that Fred. P. Hochberg, chairman and president of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, has agreed to serve as the luncheon presenter on Tuesday 25, March at its 2014 Spring Conference in Washington, D.C.

Mr Hochberg's presentation will follow a number of other high profile speakers, including U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee; U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure; Canadian Transport Minister Lisa Riatt; M. Gen. John W. Peabody, deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Scott M. Kelly, vice president of global ocean services for Expeditors, based in Seattle.

During Mr. Hochberg’s tenure, the U.S. Export-Import Bank has increased its focus on both U.S. exporters and foreign buyers of U.S. products. Mr. Hochberg leads the bank’s charge in seeking new markets for U.S. goods and services in emerging economies with growing infrastructure needs, including Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nigeria and South Africa.

AAPA President and CEO Kurt Nagle said that under Mr. Hochberg’s leadership, the bank has successfully introduced innovative financial products, streamlined processes and cut transaction times “that has helped expand the global footprint of key domestic industries in which U.S. exporters have a competitive advantage.” These include renewable energy, construction and farm machinery, medical technology, agriculture and avionics.

The ports association is being led this year by Chairman of the Board Tay Yoshitani, who serves as CEO of the Port of Seattle.  AAPA anticipates more than 180 port and related industry leaders and guests will take part in its two-day conference.
