Well Abandoment in the Spotlight at ICoTA Event

The challenges facing well abandonment in a mature province will be the focus of the latest lunch and learn session hosted by leading oil and gas industry body ICoTA European Chapter in Aberdeen on Tuesday, September 18.

Representatives from TAM International will start the event with a presentation on how inflatable technology has been successfully used for well abandonment and deployed on slick line, coiled tubing and drill pipe, followed by a presentation on innovation in abandonment services by Baker Hughes.

After a buffet lunch, Weatherford will present to the audience on innovative solutions for rigless well abandonment challenges.

The lunch and learn session will be held at The Marcliffe Hotel and will run from 11am to 2pm. It is the seventh in a series of events being held by ICoTA Europe this year, leading up to the 18th SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Conference, entitled ‘Delivering more for less’, which will be held in Aberdeen on November 14 and 15.

ICoTA Europe chairman Callum Munro said: “Well abandonment, particularly in the offshore industry, is an extremely hot topic at the moment. It is a broad subject, covering a range of activities including pre abandonment, light well intervention, rig-based abandonment, barrier placement and the wider subjects of decommissioning requirements and adherence to UK oil and gas well abandonment guideline.

“Our lunch and learn events to date have proven to be excellent opportunities for leaders in the field to discuss and share best practices, and I fully expect another high quality debate at this event.

“We attract some of the best minds in the European intervention and coiled tubing industry, and we welcome anyone with an interest in the topic to join us.”

Advanced booking is essential. Places can be booked online at www.rodgerandco.com or by emailing [email protected]
