Paint Supplier Sign Copenhagen Communiqué

November 16, 2009

AkzoNobel Chief Executive Hans Wijers recently added his name to ‘The Copenhagen Communiqué on Climate Change’ joining hundreds of other global business leaders who are calling on world leaders to close a deal on climate change when they meet in Copenhagen in December.

“Modern foul release coatings can make a huge difference right now to ships’ fuel consumption and therefore their emissions,” said Dr. Hunter, who heads International Paint’s Regulatory Affairs Division and attends IMO meetings on a regular basis. “Savings typically lie in the range of 6 – 9% as compared with conventional hull coatings,” Hunter continued, “and that’s a significant benefit.”
