Mackay Marine Expands: Texas, Panama

February 9, 2010

Mackay Marine, a division of Mackay Communications, Inc., has expanded its operations with the opening of two new marine-electronics service locations in Corpus Christi, Texas and Panama City, Panama. The addition of these facilities, coupled with the opening of Mackay Rotterdam BV in May 2009, gives customers 15 U.S. locations, two Mackay International service centers, and 90+ international marine service agency affiliations to choose from.

Mackay’s goal is to meet the increasing regional and international demand in southeastern Texas and Panama, while establishing itself as a cornerstone of consistent, high quality marine service in these progressive ports.

Mackay Marine - Corpus Christi will provide marine service in key southern ports between Brownsville, Texas and Point Comfort, Texas. Approximately 2,000 ships visit the Port of Corpus Christi annually; delivering and transporting a wide variety of products ranging from crude oil to grain products, offshore drilling rigs to frozen goods. In addition to current marine traffic, an LPG Terminal and Container Terminal are slated to be constructed in the near future.

In September 2009, Mackay-Panama, S.A. was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mackay Communications, Inc, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. The Panama Canal is a focal point for container trans-shipping; with 11,000 vessels transferring through each year, and expansion targeted for completion in 2015.
