IMarEST Welcomes Castrol Marine's Marine Partner Status

May 16, 2011

Castrol Marine has renewed the Corporate Membership of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology’s (IMarEST) Marine Partners initiative.

“If there is one thing better than acquiring a new member of the Marine Partner scheme, it is news that a long-time partner is renewing its relationship with us,” says Fiona Morris, Interim Chief Executive of IMarEST.

“It is extremely stimulating working with Castrol Marine, and we are delighted that we will be doing so for another year. We relish being involved with their ongoing campaign to constantly improve skills and knowledge both internally through Continuing Professional Development initiatives, through external means such as the Castrol Academy and support for the invaluable Sea Your Future – A Guide to Marine Careers that proves such a useful medium of communication.

“We will be working with them to promote Castrol Academy. ‘Engineered by Castrol Marine’, this is a comprehensive assessment tool consisting of eleven multi-level technical training modules designed to improve crew skills and knowledge levels. From Ship Types to Used Oil Analysis, the training covers key areas of the marine industry ensuring greater crew capability. Castrol Academy combines traditional print-based modules, with interactive DVDs and online assessment. Castrol Academy modules will all be available through IMarEST – this is true Partnership in action.

“Sea Your Future – A Guide to Marine Careers has been hugely successful at recent careers fairs and exhibitions, and well received in marine colleges and universities. We are extremely grateful to Castrol Marine for their sponsorship of the booklet.”

Jonathan Hutchinson, Castrol Marine Global Marine Marketing Manager adds: “We are delighted to renew our relationship with IMarEST, one of the world’s leading societies for marine professionals. Together, we will continue to provide the highest levels of training standards at a crucial time for the maritime industries as they emerge from recession and look to expand.”

Under the IMarEST Marine Partners scheme customised corporate packages are created for each of the 40+ global Corporate Partners and Marine Affiliates who include companies, universities, research institutes and training colleges.
