Engine as a Weapon Symposium

January 10, 2013

IMAREST Symposium – 'Delivering Military Effect: a holistic approach to combat & platform system integration' at University of Bristol, UK, July 2013.

The 'Engine As A Weapon' symposium series provides a unique opportunity for experts in combat and platform system design to expose and explore the integration challenges faced, from energy management to open systems.

EAAW V ‘Delivering Military Effect: A holistic approach to combat and platform systems integration’ will build upon the success of four previous events and provides a forum for information exchange and much needed analysis and debate.

The advent of Integrated Full Electric Propulsion (IFEP) has enabled electrical power to be harnessed for military effect like never before - high powers that need to be managed and controlled to bring precise military effect in a highly networked environment.

Technology development and platform design cannot prevail in isolation, and highly integrated systems are inevitable if affordable and adaptable solutions are to be exploited.

Organised by The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMAREST) papers are invited from industry, academia and government departments, covering the context for future combat systems and high energy weapons and sensors, the opportunities provided by advanced marine systems and the integration challenges faced. The closing date for receipt of synopses has been extended to 1 February 2013.
