IFB Director to Speak at Mersey Maritime Face-to-Face Event

April 23, 2014

As the countdown to the International Festival for Business (IFB) in Liverpool begins, IFB Director Ian McCarthy will join Mersey Maritime at its May Face-to-Face Event.

Business leaders attending the breakfast meeting on May 6 will have the opportunity to hear first hand an overview of the Festival which now has more than 200 events taking place in and around Liverpool during June and July. McCarthy will outline Liverpool Vision’s role as the economic development company for the city and emphasise the need for businesses of all sizes to maximize the IFB opportunity to develop stronger trading links.

Mersey Maritime is organizing the Maritime Logistics and Energy thematic within the IFB and representatives will be on hand to talk delegates through what is happening in the maritime and related sectors on Merseyside.

McCarthy will be joined by Shulah Jones of Hugh Baird College in Bootle, North Liverpool. The college has been working closely with Mersey Maritime and other partners to meet the future skills demands created by Liverpool’s new ‘SUPERPORT’ and is shortly to launch a Port Academy Liverpool which will specialise in port operations and maritime logistics for young people aged 14 years and upwards with classes beginning in September this year.

The Face-to-Face event takes place at the offices of Mersey Maritime in Birkenhead from 07.45am to 09.00am on Tuesday May 6. The event is expected to be oversubscribed so business people wishing to attend are advised to reserve a place by contacting Mersey Maritime on tel: 0151 647 4747.
