Lateral Naval Architects Launched
UK-based BMT Nigel Gee and Dutch- based superyacht builder Oceanco have signed a strategic partnership for the formation of a new naval architecture and engineering company—Lateral Naval Architects Ltd. Lateral will provide high quality naval architecture and engineering services to the industry as well as collaborating with the shipyard’s own engineering team and network of co-makers and subcontractors. Adam Joins BMT Board

Qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1982, Adam has a wealth of financial acumen, M&A and international business experience, having served as finance director of private and listed businesses for nearly 30 years. Kenny to Take the BMT Helm

BMT Upgrades Its REMBRANDT Simulator
BMT Ship & Coastal Dynamics, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced new enhancements to its marine navigation and maneuvering simulator, REMBRANDT, used globally by pilot organizations, shipping companies, naval architects, civil marine engineers and port authorities. Separate controls for setting wind, wave and swell wave parameters have been introduced. By allowing independent control of these features, more realistic scenarios can be examined – a feature of particular relevance for offshore simulations, as well as certain critical port approach maneuvers, BMT noted.
SHIPLYS to Advance Ship Design, Production Process
The European Commission has granted 6.2 Million Euros ($6.9mln) for a new research project called SHIPLYS (Ship Lifecycle Software Solutions). The project gathers a team of 12 leading maritime companies and research facilities from several European countries in order to develop simulation and modelling tools that will minimise the time and costs involved in ship design and production. Calculation and modelling tools currently used to overcome these needs are difficult to use and time consuming, especially for SMEs.

BMT Innovation Recognised in AWA Awards

BMT, Endeavour Energy Win Africa’s LNG Import Terminal Contract
BMT Asia Pacific (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been appointed Owners Engineer and lead design consultant by Endeavour Energy for the development of the LNG storage and regasification facility, a part of the Ghana 1000 Gas to Power Project and Africa’s first LNG import terminal. Endeavour is co-leading development with General Electric, Eranove and local partners Sage Petroleum with the aim of providing the Ghanian government with Sub Saharan Africa’s largest power park, providing more than 1000MW to the national grid once completed.

BMT – DoT Partnership Extended

BMT Group Implements Internal Reorganization
BMT Group (BMT), an international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced an internal reorganization which will see the existing BMT operating companies grouped into five market focused partnerships in a move that aims to enhance services and improve efficiencies across the business. These partnerships will be headed by new leaders who will come into post over the next three months. Jan van Smirren, who will lead the Energy Partnership, will join BMT in its Houston office, having worked for the past 25 years for Fugro Inc. and Fugro GEOS.
