Growing work in the government sector, particularly with the US Navy and the US Coast Guard has ABS responding with changes to its Government Operations office located in Washington, DC.

Key staff appointments and additional project management resources have been dedicated to best manage the important and growing government work that comes not only from within the US but also from various navies and military organizations throughout the world.

Craig Bone, Vice President Corporate Programs, is relocating to the class society’s Washington, DC office. He will be taking over from the long-serving leadership of Glenn Ashe, Vice President Government Operations, who retires from ABS early next year.

A new position, Manager of Government Operations, has been created to better manage the logistics and complexities of new US Navy and US Coast Guard projects. ABS veteran Richard Delpizzo has been promoted to this new position. With years of experience on government projects, Delpizzo leads a team of assigned project managers dedicated to reinforcing project management best practices with the goal of further enhancing ABS’ customer service to its government clients.

Emphasis on project management has been a successful differentiating factor for ABS in terms of customer service delivery worldwide. The project management structure has been employed for both ship and offshore structures and now has been integrated into the specialized shipbuilding needs of ABS’ government clients.
