Chandler Celebrates 25 Years with Bay Diesel
With more than 40 years experience in the engine business, Lynn Chandler, Bay Diesel's Executive Vice President for Chesapeake Service, celebrates his 25th anniversary with the company. Chandler began his journey on a farm in Iowa before joining the United States Navy as a Seabee. In 1979, his military career led him to the Hampton Roads area where he met Scott Wheeler and eventually joined Bay Diesel.

FMC Public Forum on US Port Congestion
Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) Chairman Mario Cordero will hold a forum titled, "U.S. Port Congestion: Examining Causes, Impact on Stakeholders, and Exploring Possible Solutions" on Monday, September 15, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Port of Los Angeles’ administration building in San Pedro, Calif. According to FMC, the forum’s goal is to promote dialogue on the causes and implications of congestion at U.S. ports.

Under the name of Ocean Three, the agreements; which include a combination of vessel sharings, slot exchanges and slot charters; concern the following maritime trades: Asia-Europe, Asia-Mediterranean, Transpacific and Asia-United States East Coast.

Brambles Acquires Ferguson Group
The Ferguson Group announces that it has been acquired by Brambles Limited for an enterprise value of £320 million. Brambles Limited is a supply-chain logistics company operating in more than 50 countries, primarily through the CHEP and IFCO brands. The group specializes in the pooling of unit-load equipment and associated services, focusing on the outsourced management of pallets, crates and containers.

Public Forum to Address US Port Congestion
Federal Maritime Commissioner William P. Doyle will host a forum regarding U.S. Mid-Atlantic and Northeast port congestion on October 1, 2014 at the World Trade Center in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. FMC Commissioner Richard A. Lidinsky, Jr. will co-host this forum. The forum’s goal is to examine causes and implications of congestion at U.S. ports and possible solutions in the geographic region including port activity from Virginia to Maine.

AMSA Issues Ebola Virus Advice
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) issued a notice to shipowners and ship operators regarding the recent outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa. The notice also served to offer advice on the risks posed to seafarers calling in countries affected by the outbreak. The Masters of ships calling at ports in the affected countries should ensure that all passengers, special personnel and seafarers are aware of the risks, how the virus can be spread and how to reduce the risk.

Rolls-Royce today announced the completion of its acquisition of Rolls-Royce Power Systems (RRPS).
