SENER to Unveil the new FORAN

October 6, 2016

The SENER engineering and technology group is pushing FORAN into the future to ensure that it will continue to provide optimal information management. It is also forging ahead with virtual access to the system using smart devices.

The company will take part in SORTA, the 22nd Symposium on Theory and Practice of Shipbuilding, which will be held on October 6–8, 2016 in Seget Donji, a city close to Trogir, Croatia. The event, named after the renowned professor Leopold Sorta, is organized by the Brodotrogir shipyard together with the School of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb, where Sorta was the first professor of naval architecture.

SENER will be attending this event to present a technical paper on its FORAN shipbuilding CAD/CAM/CAE system, and particularly on the advantages the system offers for the industry. Two members of SENER's Marine Division will attend the symposium: Pablo García, Southern Europe Sales Manager, and Rodrigo Pérez, Military Business Development Manager. On Thursday October 6 at 12:30
p.m., Pérez will present a study entitled The latest advantages in shipbuilding CAD Systems, as part of this major conference.

This article will highlight some of the most significant advances of CAD Systems for recent shipbuilding, and particularly those which FORAN offers, such as ease in creating designs, speed in building ship models, and the use and re-use of information, all of which are extremely timely.

In general, the FORAN system offers tangible benefits by optimizing the design and production process in all of its stages, leading to significant cost reductions.

The Croatian shipyard Bodotrogir has been using FORAN since 2015, when it celebrated its 50th anniversary.
