Russian, Chinese Navies Grow Even Closer

Russian “joint maritime -2015 (1)” today (May 11) officially launched a joint military exercise, the exercise will continue until 21 May, reports Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
It is the first time the two countries have held joint military exercises in the area and will also the furthest conducted by PLA Navy vessels from their home ports, although the scale of the drills is limited.
China has deployed three ships and two shipboard helicopters for the exercises, led by the Russian Navy. Russia has sent six vessels to the exercises that conclude on May 21.
The total aggregate Russian joint military exercise led by the organization’s nine surface ships, mainly around maintaining the high seas exercises safety issue, because based in the Mediterranean and attract outside attention.
Experts said that this far out at sea to improve the operational capacity of the Chinese navy and test combat capability of great help.
The two missile frigates of the People's Liberation Army Navy Marine Corps (PLAMC) arrived at Novorossiysk on May 8. The Linyi and the Weifang took part in the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of victory over the Nazi Germany in World War II.
Chinese and Russian marines took part in a series of sports competitions at the Russian naval base in the city of Novorossiysk playing futsal, tug-of-war and ping pong, Russian Navy spokesman said.
It is reported that Chinese troops participating from the three surface ships, two ship-borne helicopters and commandos units and other components, all of Russia’s six ships from the Black Sea Fleet.
Media reports that Xi Jinping’s appearance at Vladimir Putin’s side at the Victory Parade in Moscow signifies a deepened relationship based on a common adversary: the United States.
