The Port of Los Angeles has selected global supply chain and logistics expert Andrew Scott as its executive-in-residence fellow full-time one-year leadership position hosted by FUSE Corps. FUSE Corps is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that works with participating local governmental entities to help them address major urban-related challenges.
Scott will work with the Port’s executive leadership team on developing new strategies for enhancing supply chain efficiency as well as streamlining Port processes and operations. Scott is also being tasked with helping create a system for gathering, posting and sharing of real-time data and information among key Port partners and stakeholders.
“We are thrilled to have a seasoned executive like Andrew on board as we continue our pursuit of new and creative ways to optimize supply chain efficiencies and operations,” said Port Executive Director Gene Seroka. “Supply chain innovation will be essential in order to keep the Port competitive and relevant in today’s fast-paced and continually evolving shipping industry.”
Scott has extensive executive-level experience working in international companies, having lived and managed companies on five continents. He is also a skilled entrepreneur, with significant start-up experience in logistics and technology companies. Most recently, Scott was the founder and CEO of a Los Angeles-based forwarding and logistics services company.
Simultaneously, he led another company focused on developing technology logistic platforms for the U.S. container trucking industry.
Scott earned his Bachelor’s degree in commerce, with an emphasis on marketing and economics, from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He was also a founding board member of KEA – a global networking online community for New Zealanders – during his time in the United Kingdom.
“I am very excited for this opportunity to work with the Port of Los Angeles – one of the most innovative ports in the world – and to have the chance to lend some of my global experience and perspectives to the process,” said Scott. “I’m very grateful to the FUSE program too, which offers executives like me an opportunity to work within the public sector and not just talk about innovation, but implement it.”
FUSE Corps is a nonprofit organization that enables local government to more effectively address the biggest challenges facing urban communities. FUSE partners with civic leaders to identify strategic projects and then recruits entrepreneurial professionals to serve in year-long, executive-level fellowships.
