Pettit's Epoxy Primer with Mica Shield Technology

May 20, 2015

Pettit Marine Paint, leading manufacturer of high performance marine coatings, announced today its most advanced premium epoxy primer yet, Pettit Protect with Mica Shield Technology. A heavy-duty, two-component, epoxy coating, Pettit Protect provides maximum resistance in both fresh and salt water.

Pettit Protect with Mica Shield Technology is designed to be the most durable and effective barrier coating, ideal for all exterior exposures. While all premium epoxy primers contain Mica to prevent water intrusion, other companies use ground Mica and when applied, there is no structure, only minute particles like gravel, allowing for possible water penetration. Pettit Protect incorporates slate Mica into the epoxy resin, which is longer, wider and overlaps like shingles on a roof, creating an impenetrable structural barrier.

Well suited to any pleasure craft application, Pettit Protect is an excellent choice for osmotic blister prevention. It also is specially formulated for tenacious adhesion, making Pettit Protect a fantastic primer coat for new boats. Its high-solids formula allows for quick and easy application with fewer coats necessary to be effective and also offers dependable corrosion protection on all underwater metals.

“Pettit Paint has a long history of producing the highest quality marine coatings,” said Don Zabransky, vice president sales & marketing, Pettit Marine Paint. “We have a reputation for producing coatings with vivid colors and beautiful finishes. The foundation of an excellent coating, however, is the base layer. Pettit Protect epoxy primer offers the easiest application, with the greatest protection for your investment. We want you to enjoy your boat for a lifetime and have designed Pettit Protect to make it last.”

Pettit Protect is offered in gray and white – specifically designed for use below white and light colored Vivid bottom paints.
