U.S. LNG developer Argent LNG said on Wednesday it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Albania's government to evaluate development of an onshore LNG storage and regasification terminal with capacity of up to 5 million tonnes a year.

Terminal could connect with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, proposed Ionian Adriatic Pipeline and Fier-Vlore gas corridor.
Argent LNG said financing could involve the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and U.S. Export-Import Bank.
The proposed terminal would be designed to supply markets in the Western Balkans and southeastern Europe and could support Ukraine through regional gas-market arrangements, Argent LNG said.
The company gave no cost estimate, proposed site or construction timetable for the Albanian facility.
The agreement builds on Argent LNG's previously announced memoranda of understanding with Naftogaz Group of Ukraine, signed in July 2026, and Transgaz of Romania, signed in August.
In July, the U.S. Department of Energy authorized Argent LNG to export LNG from its proposed Port Fourchon, Louisiana, terminal to countries that have free-trade agreements with the United States.
