Senior Vice President Route Management & Operations of Scandlines Claus Nikolajsen retires as of 31 January 2017. He is relieved by Michael Guldmann Petersen who joins Scandlines with solid international maritime experience.
After 35 years with Scandlines, Claus Nikolajsen retires at the end of January 2017. To take over the position as SVP Route Management & Operations, Scandlines has appointed Michael Guldmann Petersen who turns 50 on 29 January 2017. Michael took his master’s license in 1991 in Copenhagen and sailed for Maersk until 2000. Subsequently, he has completed a number of management training courses.
This has led to positions in the maritime industry, i.a. as Operations Manager and General Manager in the Netherlands, Nigeria and Italy. In Denmark, Michael Guldmann Petersen has worked for the shipping companies Maersk, TORM and Norden among others. Most recently, he has been Port, Rail & Marine Manager for an iron mine in Sierra Leone.
”Michael Guldmann Petersen brings with him impressive domestic as well as international experience from the maritime world, and we look very much forward to taking advantage of these competencies in Scandlines,” says Søren Poulsgaard Jensen, Scandlines’ CEO.
Michael Guldmann Petersen joined Scandlines 2 January 2017 and is currently following a thorough introduction programme. ”I am looking very much forward to collaborating with the Board, the management and the many competent employees that I have already had the opportunity to meet during the first couple of weeks,” says Michael Guldmann Petersen.
Claus Nikolajsen began his career as an officer in Scandlines (at that time DSB) in 1981. After many years with various positions on board and ashore, he was promoted from Senior Captain to Operations Manager in 2005. Since 2012, he has had the overall responsibility for all operations and maintenance at sea, in ports and terminals as SVP Route Management & Operations.
”Claus’ efforts for the company are invaluable. He has a huge network in and around Scandlines – over the years we have benefited from his vast knowledge about ferry and terminal operation. I am therefore very pleased that Claus has promised to continue his work in various Scandlines boards and as a consultant,” says Søren Poulsgaard Jensen. “A warm thank you to Claus – we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
31 January 2017, it will be possible to meet and greet both the acceding and outgoing Operations Manager. Scandlines, Michael Guldmann Petersen and Claus Nikolajsen will be happy to see friends, family, colleagues and business contacts.
