Little Rock Port Cargo Steady in February

 

Logistic Services Inc., the port’s stevedoring partner, handled a total of 30 barges, amounting to over 45,000 net tons of cargo. Commodities handled included aluminum ingots and sows, DAP, nepheline syenite, potash, sand, scrap, steel coils, urea, wetcake and wire rod coils. Across all operations, LSI handled just under 50,000 net tons of cargo. 

 

Total tonnage on the MKARNS for the month of February was 1,216,000 tons. 

 

“Activity on the Arkansas River remains steady; however, we are optimistic that tonnage will continue to grow as the new administration focuses on opening the energy sector and promotes ‘re-shoring’ of manufacturing opportunities,” said Bryan Day, Executive Director of the Little Rock Port Authority. “This river system is an incredible asset that needs to be promoted as a safe and efficient way to move cargo to and from this community. It is the gateway to the world and we are lucky to have it as a resource.”
