Austerity Strike Action Hits European Ports

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) is advising of the following strike action today across a number of European ports according to local office reports.


Portugal
Strikes are being held by the Union CGTP, but not officially by UGT.

Lisbon: Stevedores are on strike. Container terminals and depots have stopped. Authorities are working.

Leixoes: All working.

Aveiro and Figueira da Foz: Stevedores are on strike. Container terminals and depots have stopped. Authorities are working.

Sines: All working.

Setubal and Margueira Lisnave Drydock: Stevedores are on strike.  Container terminals and depots have stopped. Authorities are working in half closed regime. Drydock is stopped.


Spain  
Algeciras: Pilots are operating at 50 per cent capacity. No picket lines in Algeciras port currently, but sporadic trouble has been reported in different locations including Vigo and Valencia. Transportation is not working in ports (trucks and trailers).  


Greece
Strike concentrated in three hours today from 1200-1500. Ports will be fully stopped. All operations are planned for before, or after the stoppage.


ISS will continue to monitor the situation on behalf of ship owners and operators and will keep customers updated.  Further updates will be posted on the ISS website www.iss-shipping.com
