PPG Protective & Marine Coatings (PMC) has appointed Richard Holliday as Global Director - Hydrocarbon PFP (HC-PFP) succeeding Paul Greigger who has retired after 36 years of service.

Holliday, a mechanical and offshore engineer by training, has been in the oil, gas and petrochemical fire protection industry for a significant portion of his 30-year career and joins PPG's PMC group after seven years with MMI Engineering, a technical safety consultancy specializing in major accident hazards.

Holliday will be responsible for growing the company’s HC-PFP business globally as well as developing and executing its strategy of being the preferred supplier in this segment. In addition, he will ensure that the company leads in product technology and support.

Sean Purdy, Global Platform Director, Protective Coatings at PPG said, “Epoxy intumescent coating systems are enabling technologies for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, with a proven track record in protecting safety critical elements and structures from extreme hydrocarbon fires.

“As the industry confronts the challenges of production in deep water and Arctic environments as well as increasing investment in liquefied natural gas assets that require cryogenic spill and fire protection from a single system, PPG is delivering advanced cost effective solutions for our customers. In Richard we have a colleague who will help position PPG as the leader in innovative chemistry and advanced fire safety engineering to grow this strategically important business.”
