L-3 Westwood: $6.5m Order for DDG 114, DDG 116

April 16, 2012

L-3 Westwood received orders totaling over $6.5m from Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE:HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (GDBIW) to provide power distribution equipment  for the U.S. Navy’s DDG 114 and DDG 116 ships, respectively. DDG 114 and 116 are the 64th and 66th ships of the Arleigh Burke class being built for the U.S. Navy by the two companies. “L-3 Westwood is pleased to be working with great partners like Ingalls Shipbuilding and GDBIW,” said Clayton McClain, president of L-3 Westwood. “The DDG 114 order is noteworthy as it represents the 50th shipset of the DDG 51 power  distribution equipment that Westwood has received, and is the 23rd order from Ingalls. The DDG 116 order is another important milestone as it is the 28th shipset to be provided to GD Bath Iron Works.”  The U.S. Navy’s shipbuilding plans include the continued production of the DDG 51-class destroyers for the next 10 years.
