USCG Saves 2, Dog from Flooding Boat in Maine

June 20, 2016

A Coast Guard rescue crew from Station Portsmouth Harbor rescued two people and a dog aboard 26-foot boat Sunday afternoon near Boone Island, Maine.

The Coast Guard received a call for help from the crew aboard Blue Gold at around 11 a.m. stating they were disabled and taking on water.

A Station Portsmouth Harbor 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew was on patrol nearby, diverted to assist, and arrived on scene at around 11:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, two Coast Guard crewmembers quickly boarded Blue Gold with a damage control kit and analyzed the flooding. Blue Gold's bilge pumps were able to keep up with the flooding, but crewmembers remained on scene incase the flooding increased.

The crew put Blue Gold in tow and safely brought the boat and crew to shore at York Harbor, Maine.
