New Training Program on Galley Safety

July 13, 2012

The galley is the heart of every vessel.

A well-functioning galley keeps crews healthy and productive. A poorly ran galley causes lost man-hours due to food borne illnesses and injuries, costing companies millions, and in some cases, costing crewmembers their lives. Galley Safety: Health and Hazards (http://www.maritimetraining.com/Product/Galley-Safety-Health-Hazards) is a new training video from Maritime Training Services (www.maritimetraining.com) that responds to these issues by providing training on proper hygiene, sanitation and food storage procedures, correct nutrition counseling, menu planning, using leftovers effectively and food preparation.

Produced in partnership with Garrets, an expert in Marine Catering Management, Teekay and American Seafoods, this 27 minute program addresses safety precautions every maritime galley worker should follow, including proper attire and the importance of using the correct equipment for specific jobs.

Additional program contents include:

  • Refrigerator Temperature Log
  • Cleaning Schedule Log
  • Defrosting Log
  • 26 page Kitchen Companion - Safe Food Handbook
  • 7 Food Safety Steps for Community Meals
  • Tips for Clean Hands & Good Hygiene
  • Food Temperature Danger Zone Handout
  • 6 Featured Recipes

The cost of the DVD is $250.00 and is subtitled into the following languages: Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog / To review the new training video please visit: http://www.maritimetraining.com/Product/Galley-Safety-
