Three Rescued after their Boat Flips in Pamet Harbor

August 6, 2016

The Coast Guard rescued three people from the water after their boat overturned in Pamet Harbor, Massachusetts.

At 3:15 p.m., the owner of a 14-foot aluminum boat reported to Coast Guard Station Provincetown watchstanders that he had lent his boat to three people, and they were in distress after the boat flipped.

The owner was on land at the time. After the boat capsized, one of the three contacted him for help, and he called the Coast Guard.

A 29-foot rescue boat crew from Station Provincetown was already underway and diverted to the scene. The crew arrived to find two males in lifejackets and one female clinging to an inflatable in the water.

The boat had already sank.

The crew brought the three aboard and took them to Pamet Harbor Pier where Truro Emergency Medical Services were awaiting.
There were no injuries reported.

"They were cold from being in the water, so we coordinated to have had EMS standing by," said Petty Officer 3rd Class Meghan Fuller from Station Provincetown.

She said the three took excellent safety measures by wearing life jackets, which kept them safe and allowed the boat crew to locate them quickly.
