Thomas Ward has been named a Senior Maritime Planner in the San Francisco office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, engineering, and program/construction management organization.

In his new position, Mr. Ward will lead Parsons Brinckerhoff’s port, intermodal and maritime planning practice, combining his extensive knowledge of waterfront operations, freight-handling technology and equipment, terminal infrastructure and automation.

Mr. Ward comes to Parsons Brinckerhoff from Ports America, the largest terminal operator and stevedore in the U.S., where he served as Chief Engineer responsible for oversight of internal and external planning and engineering services.  He has led numerous operational planning and analysis efforts at marine terminals worldwide for more than 30 years, encompassing the full range of terminal operating environments and systems.

Mr. Ward has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.  He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Diplomat in Port Engineering with the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers.
