SUNY Maritime College has honored Richard Angerame, President and CEO of utiliVisor, as part of its 2014 Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner, the institution’s annual event to raise scholarship funds for outstanding current and future Maritime students.

In announcing the honor, Dr. Michael Cappeto, President of the College, stated, “Over the past several years you have been extremely supportive of our efforts and we are privileged to consider you a friend of SUNY Maritime College. You have developed a strong niche in the power monitoring sector and have built close relationships with many individuals on campus. You are uniquely qualified to accept this tribute.”

Founded in 1978, utiliVisor offers energy monitoring and submetering services, providing solutions to boost efficiency and lower energy consumption. UtiliVisor services more than 250 million square feet of commercial and institutional space nationwide and oversees more than 175,000 service data points, more than any other service provider in the United States. It is also the largest submetering company in the tri-state New York metropolitan area.

Angerame has more than 30 years of experience in the operation and performance of HVAC systems and utility metering systems. He is a graduate engineer from SUNY Maritime College with a U.S. Coast Guard license for the operation of steam and diesel shipboard power plants. He holds several patents in chiller controls and remote monitoring utilizing the web and has authored technical papers on chiller plant performance, energy efficiency and utility submetering.

utiliVisor is Angerame’s design concept resulting from years of experiencing the inefficient operation of large central chilled water plants and building automation systems and submetering systems. Along with his development team, he created a unique tool for analysis of large chiller plants and district cooling systems which analyzes the energy plant operation in "real time" and easily allows operators to track and analyze data over the web. utiliVisor interfaces into any automation system and is being utilized as a standard for monitoring and verification.

In July 2013, utiliVisor launched a new division aimed at helping the marine industry to reduce fuel consumption while increasing the efficiency of vessels. The firm's energy marine services include baseline analysis of ship operating costs and performance, independent third party measurement and verification, engineering and energy solutions that are tracked and monitored by the utiliVisor operations center, and data reports to help validate emission regulations compliance.
