Charles Gray, Managing Director at the Armitt Group, Rob McKay, Director at Sherrington Associates and Chris Wainwright, MD of the Beech Group, have all entered a triathlon in Liverpool to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the maritime charity established to save lives at sea.

The trio were inspired by BBC's Louise Minchin’s impassioned endorsement for triathlon competitions during her hosting of the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2016, where each of their respective companies were nominated as award finalists.

So team ‘Ship Shapes’ was born and the decision was made to enter this year's triathlon in Liverpool on August 14, to help raise funds for the RNLI.

“Remarkably, this incredible organization relies almost entirely on donations and legacies from the general public, so we wanted to highlight this and raise money to ensure the essential work of this lifeboat service is maintained,” said Charles Gray Managing Director of the Armitt Group.

Chris Wainwright will be kicking things off with a 750M swim in the balmy waters of the River Mersey, followed by Charles Gray biking 20k around Liverpool’s waterfront, finishing with Rob McKay lacing up his trainers to run the final 5km to the finish line.
