Jeppesen agrees with Indonesian Navy Hydrographic Office to distribute Electronic Navigation Charts (ENC) for Indonesia including Straits of Malacca.

With the completion of this agreement, Jeppesen says it will provide the worldwide commercial shipping industry with comprehensive ENC coverage for Indonesian waters — waters encompassing major Asian Pacific (APAC) trade routes critical to the flow of international commerce.

Accurate and up-to-date ENCs are a vital tool for safe navigation, particularly in the Strait of Malacca – the main channel between the Indian and Pacific Oceans linking the major Asian economies of India, China, Japan and South Korea. It is estimated 25 percent of all oil transported by sea passes through the Strait of Malacca, noted for its shallow waters, narrow passages and heavy shipping traffic. By providing its global shipping customers with trusted ENCs from DISHIDROS, Jeppesen helps vessels and shipping companies ensure safe passage through these treacherous waters, as well as the entire Indonesian region.

“This is an historical agreement for Jeppesen and a significant development for our shipping clientele operating in these important Asia Pacific trade routes,” said Michael Bergmann, Jeppesen Maritime Industry Director.  “It is our continuing goal to support the maritime industry with the best possible ENC coverage for major shipping routes worldwide. Strategic partnerships with hydrographic offices — such as this one with DISHIDROS — are instrumental in achieving this goal. We are grateful to the Indonesian Navy Hydrographic Office for its cooperation and partnership in this process.”
