Ship refurbishment specialists Blu Marine complete the £500,000 contract, and P&O has begun operating the ship on its Troon to Larne service.

Blu Marine carried out the work in Belfast Harbour, which mainly involved fitting the P&O Express with a new Club Lounge designed to meet the needs of business travellers. The 90-capacity lounge will offer complimentary news-papers, magazines, drinks and snacks, with facilities in place to allow passengers to use laptops, tablets and mobile phones.

The wider refurbishment saw Blu Marine, which previously worked on P&O's Dover to Calais vessels, add a range of other new facilities to the vessel, which will include a family lounge and bar, food court and kids' area.

Blu Marine employs 94 staff and carries out ship refurbishments around the world from its sites in Belfast, Southampton and Hong Kong.
It is currently in the process of relocating its head office function from Southampton to Belfast.
