CMA CGM welcomed, on Tuesday May 15, the Indonesian President, His Excellency Joko Widodo, on the occasion of his visit to the port of Jakarta (JICT).

President Widodo was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Trade, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi, and the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Mrs. Rini Soemarno. President Widodo met with the local CMA CGM staff and the crew of the CMA CGM TAGE, a 9,365 TEU ship deployed on the JAX Route between Southeast Asia and the West Coast of the United States. During his visit, President Widodo highlighted the importance of the transpacific trade and the major role played by the CMA CGM Group, which deploys in Jakarta the largest ships calling Indonesian ports.

CMA CGM opened its first office in Indonesia back in 1995. Since then, the Group has been a strong partner of the economic development of the country and has today the biggest market coverage in the country. CMA CGM Group is present in Indonesia through a workforce of more than 230 people, 7 full CMA CGM agencies and 6 services calling Indonesian ports and linking the country to the United States, Europe and other Asian countries.

Moreover, the Group is in line with Indonesia Sea Toll Program, which is aimed at expanding intra Indonesia islands service network connecting to Jakarta.

Through its JAX service, CMA CGM is the only container shipping company offering direct call service between Indonesia and the West Coast of the United States. It is also the leader in exports from Indonesia to the US West Coast.

By loading various commodities such as footwear, garment, tyres, electronic goods, frozen seafood, etc., the Group is successful in meeting its customers’ expectations by reducing the transit times and logistics cost and also by providing great vessel windows.
