Finnish Avaava, a company specializing in barrier-free solutions makes it easier for passengers to move around, accommodate, in comfort.

Different spaces need to cater to a variety of different people. Avaava creates supplementary solutions adapted to varying levels of mobility. It’s all about equality and the simple fact that age, size, shape and health issues should not hinder mobility or the enjoyment of a high standard of living; a standard  applied to Viking Line's new ferry.

Grand designs and accessibility are not mutually exclusive – quite the opposite. Barrier-free design is all about combining aesthetics, functionality, a multi-sensory approach and customer-oriented planning. All in perfect harmony.

Many different types of cabins have been specifically designed to suit the needs of those with reduced mobility. These cabins can be equipped with devices that help ease movement from a wheelchair to the bed, or to the shower. This is just one of the advantages of a barrier-free design.

When it comes to public spaces, elevators reflect one of the greatest improvements. All 9 onboard elevators are specially adapted for wheel chairs. M/S Viking Grace also features more hearing aid loops than her predecessors. The sizes and the color palettes of onboard signs and screens have been designed with those of reduced vision in mind.
