GOST Security System thwarts Break-in

October 22, 2014

GOST (Global Ocean Security Technologies), announced that its GOST Insight HD GPS Security System was instrumental in foiling the theft of electronics onboard a powerboat in Aventura, Florida.

On the morning of October 14, 2014, Scott Patterson received a text message at 6:18 a.m. from the security system on his boat stating, “Cockpit Motion” which included a link to a ten second video showing a perpetrator in the salon of his 52-foot Sea Ray Sundancer. Patterson immediately ran to the marina while police were dispatched. An alarm scared off the intruder, thwarting the potential theft of tens of thousands of dollars worth of electronics. High definition video and still images captured by the GOST Watch HD cameras clearly show the face of the perpetrator and will significantly aid police in their task of using facial recognition software from the Department of Motor Vehicles to search for the would-be thief. Patterson is also offering a $2,000 reward for the confirmed identity of the intruder.

“The GOST system stopped me from losing anything,” said Patterson. “If I only had an alarm system, the police would probably have said it was a false alarm. Thankfully, the siren had a delay long enough that the surveillance system could take a video of the thief. I knew about him even before he knew he was caught. Not only was my boat protected, I know we will catch this guy and keep him from robbing and potentially harming others. I feel bad for people who don’t have GOST technologies to keep watch.”

Patterson’s Sea Ray, SEADATED, is outfitted with the latest technologies from GOST including, but not limited to, the GOST Phantom control unit, motion activated GOST Watch HD high definition cameras and external sirens.

“We are always so pleased to hear stories about how our products make a difference,” said Jay Keenan, president, GOST. “Scott has been a long-time, loyal customer and although it’s unfortunate that our services were necessary, we are excited and proud to have been instrumental in safeguarding his investment.
