The Ferguson Group, specialists in the rental of DNV 2.7-1 / EN 12079 certified offshore containers, refrigeration/freezer modules, engineering modules and accommodation solutions to the global offshore energy industry, recently held a seminar in Singapore on the benefits of DNV GL accreditation.

The seminar enabled companies who were not familiar with the international standard to learn the business benefits of using DNV certified equipment, how it could save time and money and support a culture of safety awareness.

The seminar had a presentation from Raymond Poh, Senior Principal Surveyor with DNV GL, who explained the standard, how it came about, and its relevance to the industry. This was followed by a presentation from Alex Yip and Simon Oh, both Business Development Executives from Ferguson Group Singapore, who talked about the business benefits of DNV accreditation and how the rental of certified units ensures that containers, tanks, skips, baskets and modules are maintained to the standard.

The presentation showed examples of the potential risks when materials and processes are not subject to any international standard. These risks are very real and very costly, and can compromise the financial health of the organization, such as personal risk to staff when there is no independent inspection and maintenance and the risk of the project being held up due to non operational equipment.

These are issues that Simon de Koning, the Business Unit Manager Ferguson Group Singapore faces every day. He said, “We organized this seminar so that people could ask questions about using a recognized quality standard and discover the benefits of independently certified equipment and how it is beneficial in the rental market.”

De Koning and his team decided to hold a DNV seminar in Singapore as many people had expressed an interest in knowing more. De Koning said, “Everyone knows that it makes good business sense to have robust containers that are well maintained, but it can be difficult and costly to undertake this to the required standard when they are being constantly used in some very challenging circumstances.

“We understand this and our rental agreements reflects a whole solution approach, where we will inspect our products, on the client’s site if necessary, document the condition and if they require maintenance, then we will arrange for that also.”

“Ferguson Group’s range of offshore containers, that includes waste skips, containers, modules and cargo carrying units are all designed, and manufactured to DNV 2.7-1/EN12079 and accredited by DNV. By renting from us, our customers will have the benefit of DNV certified containers but not the responsibility of undertaking the maintenance and inspection, which Ferguson Group Singapore carries out as standard.

Ferguson Group offers a full range of tanks, baskets, skips, dry goods containers, refrigerated units, accommodation and workspace modules that are DNV 2.7-1/EN 12079 accredited, to the global offshore industry, from bases at industry hubs, all over the world.
