Eliminating Cat Fines to Marine Diesel Engines

July 25, 2014

One can assume that P&I Clubs and shipowners would be very interested in preventing catastrophic Cat Fines damage to diesel engines. Cat Fines have been damaging marine diesel engines for more than 50 years. Only recently, with the increased use of Low Sulphur Fuel Oils has the catastrophic damage from Cat Fines increased drastically.

For decads, centrifuges builders have been searching for the latest solution. The only way to prevent the accelerated wear of Cat Fines is to (positively) remove them before the diesel engine. Over the years, many companies have tried, and many have failed – until now.

JB Filtration, LLC said it has developed, long term tested and documented a positive solution to Cat Fines Removal from the HFOs. The company informed it has protected two, large bore, slow speed diesels for over 20 years and over 40,000 running hours with a unique, 5-micron cartridge filter, while documenting cartridge service lives of over 2,000 hours. These unique Cat Fines Filters cost a small fraction of any cat fines damage loss.
