ClassNK Debuts PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Software

August 3, 2016

ClassNK has just released the latest version of its design support software PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Ver.3.5.0., developed in response to the IACS Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC & OT). In addition to improved overall performance and usability, the design evaluation function for the prescriptive calculation software now has a wider scope and additional functions such as an evaluation function for bottom slamming have been added to the direct calculation software.

ClassNK consistently strengthens the functions of PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR), a tool it provides to the industry completely free of charge, in order to make it easy for designers to carry out rule calculations in line with the CSR BC & OT and optimize their designs. This latest version, PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Ver. 3.5.0., not only builds upon the success of ClassNK’s existing software with some nice tweaks and capabilities, but also includes a number of major improvements.

The prescriptive calculation software has reduced the time needed for calculations and improved user interface performance. Moreover, its initial design function, which is a function for quick sectional evaluation, is now capable of being used for structural arrangements in the fore and aft part of the ship, including the engine room, in addition to the cargo hold region of the ship.

An evaluation function for bottom slamming has been added to the direct strength assessment software. The new function uses FE model for hold analysis required by the rules and includes automatic creation functions for evaluation panels, slamming loads and reports. In addition, it features an upgraded manhole modeling function, batch edit for multiple opening information and registering function for screening evaluation points.

Thanks to these new features, users will be able to benefit from even further reduced evaluation time and greater support in the design of safer ships compliant with CSR BC & OT.
