Afai Southern shipyard visited by Dutch diplomat, and elsewhere, Chengxi Shipyard gets order for 2 bulk carriers.

Mr. Karel Hartogh, Director of Department of Asia and Oceania at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands and Ms. Anne Luwema, Consul General of Netherlands Consulate in Guangzhou visited Afai. the Director of Damen Fast Ferry, Mr. Henk Grunstra , Damen Site Manager, Mr. Bert and General Manager of Afai, Mr. Wu Mingyi met the guests.

Mr. Henk Grunstra introduced the layout and developing situation of Damen in China, and the close cooperative relationship of Damen Group and Afai, showed Damen’s high quality aluminum vessels built in Afai, including 2 x ROPAX FERRIES 85M,2 X FAST FERRY 38M,1 X WAVE PIERCING CATAMARAN,8 X FAST FERRIES 42M,1 x Fast Ferry 36M,10 X WATERBUSES 32M etc.. Mr. Henk Grunstra said that Damen’s sale and service of vessels are world-wide, and the quality of Damen’s vessels built in China is not different from the vessels made in Europe [sic].

In other news, Chengxi Shipyard say they are to build two 64,000 dwt bulk carriers for Chinese owners Baoyuan International, These two vessels will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) and are expected to reduce bunker fuel consumption by around 17% compared to Chengxi Shipyard's previous 57,000 dwt bulker design.
