February 23, 2012

AVEVA extends training programs to Brazilian universities in Pará and Pernambuco. Degree programs to include software products from the AVEVA Plant and AVEVA Marine portfolios.

AVEVA has announced it will expand its training programs with Brazilian universities. Federal universities in Pernambuco and Pará states will implement AVEVA’s engineering and design software from the AVEVA Plant and AVEVA Marine portfolios within their engineering course curriculum. "With engineering skill shortages in Brazil specifically and Latin America in general, training new users of our software is critical to the growth and on-going success of the plant and marine sectors. In response, we have taken steps to establish several partnerships with educational institutions across the country to help close the gap on the shortage of experienced engineering talent", says Santiago Pena, Senior Vice President of AVEVA Latin America.

The agreement with Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) provides AVEVA PDMS (plant) and AVEVA Outfitting (marine) software licenses for use in its engineering degree programs.  AVEVA will also provide AVEVA Outfitting software licenses to the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) for use in naval architecture, hydrodynamics, naval construction and the stability disciplines for its naval engineering degree programs. As part of the agreement, AVEVA will also assist UFPA with the training of teachers to undertake the classes.

AVEVA PDMS is the most widely used software in Brazil for 3D modeling of industrial projects, and required on all construction, modernization and expansion projects in refining plants. AVEVA Marine is a set of integrated applications created specifically for the unique processes of the engineering and design of ship and offshore structures, design management, and the generation of accurate production information. With an office in Rio de Janeiro since 2008, AVEVA started its Brazilian academic partnerships more than three years ago with the Federal Fluminense University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
