Webb Institute, a four-year college specializing in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, announced the selection of Matt Weklar ‘15 and Nolan Conway ‘15 as Crowley Maritime Corp.’s 2013 – 2014 Thomas B. Crowley Memorial Scholarship recipients. Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to one or two students who, in the eyes of the Scholarship Selection Committee at Webb Institute, have demonstrated leadership qualities, school and community involvement, commitment to the maritime industry and academic promise.

The Thomas B. Crowley Scholarship Program was established at Webb institute in 2007 in conjunction with The Marty Johnson ’88 Leadership Fund, which was established by the company in honor of Webb Institute’s class of 1988 alumnus and former Crowley employee Marty Johnson. Scholarship recipients also receive a subscription to Crowley’s bi-annual, award-winning magazine Connections.

“We are extremely proud of our relationship with Crowley Maritime Corporation. The Thomas B. Crowley Memorial Scholarship Program is a testament to Crowley’s commitment to higher education. Webb Institute is honored to be part of this prestigious program,” stated R. Keith Michel ‘73, President of Webb Institute. “Through this scholarship program,deserving students that may not have been able to afford a higher education are given the opportunity to fulfill their potential,” he added.
