May 4, 2014

Business advisory firm, AlixPartners say that Louis Besland has joined the firm’s global Energy Practice as a managing director and will be based in the consultancy's Dubai office.

AlixPartners add that Besland has deep experience in the worldwide oil, gas and chemical sectors.  In total, he brings 27 years of consulting experience to his new position, including, in addition to his expertise in energy, significant strategy and operations expertise in logistics, infrastructure and government entities.

Besland joins AlixPartners from A.T. Kearney, where most recently he was a partner and head of the energy and process-industries practice, and also managing director of the Abu Dhabi office, for A. T. Kearney Middle East.  Earlier at A.T. Kearney, he was a vice president and head of the energy and process-industries practice in that firm’s Paris office.

Said Fred Crawford, CEO of AlixPartners:  “Building resilience and managing complexity are critical in today’s fast-moving, multifaceted energy sector.   AlixPartners is purpose-built to help companies, owners and other stakeholders thrive during periods of rapid change.  Louis brings tremendous experience to our global energy team, a team that has grown markedly of late, including our hiring last year of Dennis Cassidy, an ExxonMobil and Booz veteran based in Texas.”

Said Besland: “AlixPartners has a wealth of talent globally across the energy-industry value chain, and I very much look forward to becoming a part of this fine team at this very important time for the global energy industry.  Companies and sponsors in the Middle East, in particular, face all-new challenges and opportunities today, and AlixPartners’ results-oriented approach is well-suited to helping them minimize their challenges and maximize their opportunities.”

Besland has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics, and a master’s degree in electrochemical engineering, from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in Grenoble, France.  He also was a deck officer in the Marine Nationale, France’s navy.
